fhnw.leadSwiss companies are exporting more to increase their global reach and raise benefits. They seek solutions to facilitate the export process in regard to the financial aspect.
fhnw.initialPositionCurrently, the bank does not offer banking products and services in foreign countries on site. However, Swiss companies are seeking local solutions to facilitate their export process and the banking process for their subsidiaries. The bank is now searching for a solution that it can offer internationally operating clients.
fhnw.procedureFirst, a competitor analysis helps to understand the international market offering of banks. Two big players were analysed to later compare the offering of the bank to that of its competitors. A market analysis of the trend in export and direct investment provides the first overview about important markets. Further, a qualitative survey was conducted with employees of the bank and external persons to gain specific information on the product and service needs of Swiss companies.
fhnw.resultsThe findings show that the bank is lacking several essential products which they should offer locally. The trend for small and medium-sized companies was analysed and considered to be important information for the future product offering of the bank. While emerging markets were rated as very important by the interview participants, it must be emphasized that the neighbouring countries of Switzerland are still the most important trading partners for Swiss companies. Solutions are suggested for both the current and future situation considering the type of the company, the product to be offered and the relevant market. The models provide a first indication of the opportunities it could benefit from.
